I have not put anything on this blog in a long time.  I have been spending too much time on facebook to blog.  But, I feel the need to blog.  I am posting an item I put on facebook yesterday and I intend to spend some time pontificating on things political, cause my wife thinks I do too much of that on facebook.
Here is a letter I wrote to John Boehner after receiving a RNC survey and an appeal for money.

I received a Republican Party Survey with a letter from John Boehner. I opted out of the Survey and instead sent Boehner a personal letter. See below.

December 12, 2013 SURVEY REGISTRATION NUMBER
1015.19.3516
John Boehner
Speaker

Dear Speaker Boehner

I am responding to your letter “Truth about Republicans Survey”

The truth is, currently, I cannot tell much difference between Republicans and Democrats. Neither party has a lock on the truth. Your debasement of the grassroots, better known as the Tea Party, is not a lot different than the vile crap that comes out of the Democratic party.

I agree with most of what you want me to say on the survey. However, I do not see the Republican party doing much about the out of control spending. The was I see it, the budget bill presented by Ryan is a lot of smoke and mirrors, and still spends way too much. I would like to see you have the balls to really come up with ways to stop the insane growth of government. Maybe all you and your professional politicians should offer to take a 5% pay cut across the board, give up the millions you receive in perks, and then talk about cutting each and every federal agency budget by the same 5%. I don't think is would hurt anyone in DC to give a little back for living so high on the hog for so long.

Why have you not stood up and told Obama that the Keystone pipeline will be built, forthwit, and if he objects, cut funding for the White House? You do know that the House holds the purse strings, or did you forget it while pissing and moaning about the Tea Party Patriots?

So, I did not fill out your survey. I have been a small contributor to the Republican Party for many years, have always considered myself a Republican, and have served this country in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, thru cutbacks, and crappy leaders (in DC) and stayed the course. Now after seeing what your budget will do to the military, I can no longer contribute to a party such as the Republican party has become. I will still vote mostly Republican, but if my choice is a Tea Party Republican or a establishment Republican, you can bet your ass I will vote for the Patriot, not the professional.

Sincerely
G. Ray Johnson

Well, I never got back to blogging before the election, so most of what I was going to pontificate on is water over the dam.  But, I have had some thoughts on the economic crisis.  If we spend more than we take in, we go broke!  Simple as all get out!  If each government entity would have its budget cut by 15% and lay off about 10% of the government employees who sit on their butts doing nothing, I believe we could see a immediate decrease in the Budget deficit.  Oh! and apply the cuts to the House and Senate salaries also.

Well, that was easy, problem solved.  What is on my mind right now is Obama's proposals to bypass legislators and weaken the second amendment.  Every talking head yaks about the "assault" weapons ban and not a one of them know what an assault weapon is.  I do, and I can assure you a Bushmaster AR15 is not an assault weapon.  An assault weapon is one that is by design, made to propel a large quantity of bullets down range when you are under attack.  It is not a very efficient use of ammunition because at the high rate of fire (600-800 rounds per minute) the weapon is very unstable and accuracy deteriorates.  Our current M-16 variant has been redesigned to fire 3 round burst instead of full automatic.  You see, the civilian version of the M-16, the AR15 is semi-automatic only and the trigger must be pulled for each round to fire.  Just exactly like a Marlin model 60 .22 cal rifle, or a Remington 1100 shotgun, or a Browning BAR .300 Magnum.

Now of those weapons just mentioned above,  2 are much more powerful if used to kill people, especially in a confined area.  A 12 gauge Remington in a confined space would do much more damage than the .223 bullet fired by the AR15.  A.300 Magnum used in the same setting would penetrate walls and kill people 3 blocks away!  But, none of these weapons will kill anyone if not taken up in arms by a person.  And it has been proven that if some one is hell bent on killing another person and no firearms are handy, they will find a weapon.  Humans are good at improvising!  Years ago when the Clinton era "Assault" weapons ban took place, the NRA, of which I am a life member dropped the ball by allowing the liberals to define the assault weapon.  And then when Regan was shot by an insane a--hole, the Brady bill requiring a background chec and a 3 day waiting period was hatched, the NRA wanted a background check that would include mental history, but the Liberals wouldn't hear of it on grounds that that would entail "profiling" and the NRA caved.  Now, after the prior ban, the Brady waiting period, a large capacity magazine ban, and the instant background check, there is no evidence that any of these actions reduced crime or shootings.  As a matter of fact, the most precipitous drop in crime has come in states that recently allowed concealed carry permits.

Ok, thats enough of this.  I does strike me as rather that, when all those folks got killed at the Batman movie, Obama did not have much to say about gun control, but has gone nutso with the school shooting.  Oh wait, The Theatre shooting was before the election! I get it.  If he had reacted to that incident, his low information voters that also like their guns would have been upset!

Time to start blogging

I have not posted to this blog for a long time, and I guess I have been side tracked with facebook, e-mail, and just goofing off.  Or maybe I just felt I had nothing worthwhile to blog about.  In the past I bloviated about silly stuff, about some fairly serious stuff, but nothing earth shaking.  But now, with the ramifications of the most important Presidential election in our history, I feel it is time to share my thoughts with my blog followers (both of them) of things that are happening in this country, thoughts on how to prepare for the future and how to address the current situation with respect to the turmoil we find ourselves in.

I intend to address the current economic crisis,  the presidential election, the crimes of  the current administration, the lack of an energy policy in the current administration and the unrest in the middle east.  I will offer an in depth analysis of each of these subjects, and in the final analysis, I am sure I will offer a solution to the problems.  You will, I am sure agree with the insightful solutions and will quote my blog all over the web.  Look for the first installment, the economic crisis soon.

Today, September 11, 2009. Eight years ago, a horrible, devastating, cowardly attack was unleashed on our country. Over three thousand souls were ripped away from family and friends. Mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, all innocents that were killed by evil zealots. We all were scarred as a country. Pundits compared this travesty with the attack on Pearl Harbor, and we came together as a country. We all grieved collectively, and bonded as a united country, prepared to defend what we loved.
Today, September 11, 2009. Again, our country is threatened as never before. The ungodly attack that we experienced eight years ago that cost over three thousand lives pales in comparison to the attack that we are now experiencing. As a career military man, I understand that any battle must have certain elements to be successfully implemented. It must have a plan of implementation, sufficient forces and some form of subterfuge in order to win. The battle we are NOW engaged in is for the very fabric of our society, and the destruction of our constitution.
The plan is now in effect, and can be seen in the transformation of the structure of the institutions of our Republic. Persons with extreme ideology are being inserted into the matrix of government, with no oversight by our elected representatives. NGO's (non-government organizations) are being given the power to shape public opinion. These are the planners of the usurping the constitution are being put in place now. The far left organizations with the funding of Soros and others are funding the multitude of attacks, and the news media are actively supporting the attack by their silence on these attempts to socialize the USA

Senior non-contact sports

Carmen and I have just got back from a much delayed and much deserved vacation. 3 weeks in Florida, Camping in the camper on Perdido Bay outside Pensacola. Inasmuch as we both are near fatal type "A's", I decided that in order to keep us entertained, and also tone us up, I would invent a new senior sport. I called it "sitting". We both mastered the basic structure of the sport within about 2 days, whereupon I added an additional facet to this new sport, "rocking". In short order we both had mastered this difficult aspect of the sport. However, I have mastered the next step, while Carmen is still having difficulty with the third level, "yawning". I have even began to step out boldly onto the pinnicale of the sport, "nodding off". When you have mastered this level, you are truly into this new sport!!!

Part 2, One Nation

Continuing: When we got to the Arlington Cemetery and on board the tour bus, I was expecting the tour guide to point out salient facts about the cemetery, and maybe some history of thmore famous military personnel that were buried there such as Audie Murphy, Medal of Honor winner and Hollywood celebrity, or General of the Army George Marshall, or maybe even a Private who had done some heroic feat. But instead, the first words out of the Guides mouth were to look to the right and you will see the headstone of Medger Evers, the civil rights worker killed in Mississippi. To my knowledge, he never served in the military. I don't doubt that he deserves to be recognized as a brave, upright individual who gave is life for an ideal, but he doesn't deserve to be buried in Arlington. He went on as some point in the tour to point out the tomb to the first Black Supreme Court Justice. He never mentioned one Military man during the tour. I walked about and found one of my hero's monument, General Chappie James, who incidentally is the first Black Air Force General Officer.
I think that this tour set the tone for the rest of my time in D. C. I see Washington through, addmittedly, darkend glasses, dimly. It seems to me that the divisions in this country are the strongest in what is supposed to be the heart of our country. Black vs white, liberal vs conservative, yadda, yadda, yadda. And the divide is getting worse, not better... More later.

One Nation, Under?

My lovely wife and I, along with our granddaughter, spent the past week in Alexandria, Va. visiting our eldest daughter and family. We had a lovely time exploring the usual sight in D.C. even with a solid week of rain. There were some special places I wanted to visit, Arlington Cemetery, the Vietnam memorial and the Smithsonian being primary on my list. We did see all those things and a good many other sights. Rode the Metro all over, and Bella got a kick out of that. Only had one dismaying incident, and that was on the way back to the house after touring the Aviation museum when one really scraggly individual got on the Metro almost wearing a baggy pair of exercise pants that were hanging so far down the dude's business was almost exposed. And he stopped dead in front of Carmen and I and just stood there jabbering to himself. As his pants slipped lower and lower, I got madder and madder and was just about to leap up and snatch his pants way past a wedgie! But just before I leaped, the next station came up and he exited the door. I had not noticed it, but C said he was wearing 3 different hospital bracelets. One of them had to be from the nut house.
Back to D.C. - You may think that I am racist, or overly sensitive when I relate the following, and I may be. I have had mixed emotions about what I am about to reveal, and I would like you, my 2 esteemed readers and editors to comment on this. I was really looking forward to visiting Arlington, both as a student of history, and as a career military man. The tradition of our military's handling of those who gave their all to this country is a very special, hallowed tradition. When we freed the French from the Nazi occupation and took the land, all we asked for in return was enough land to bury our dead. At the end of the Civil war, both the North and the South buried their dead in the same field. We have since that time buried the lowest private to the highest ranking generals, men to cowered in foxholes in fear at Normandy and Medal of honor winners who reached down into places they did not know they had and found courage to do the impossible.
Now, we have also buried Presidents who served in the Military, and there are Wives of heroes buried at Arlington, and that's a good thing, because they also served. I will continue this post in another post, Part 2
